He is standing in front of his house with a dressing table and an inlaid panel he has made. It is known that he assisted the Reverend Sheffield with the creation of the wooden pulpit and panelling on the east wall of the church.

Sometimes the village carpenter and blacksmith worked together to produce wooden cartwheels with iron rims around them — an important job when so many people used carts with wooden wheels.
