In the 1860s the sub postmaster was also the schoolmaster. By 1895 there were two deliveries on weekdays, at 7:00am and 3:50pm and one on Sundays at 8:00am. Letters were sent at 7:50pm on weekdays and 6:50pm on Sundays. The post office was also a money order, telegraph, express delivery and annuity and insurance office. An old man from Leintwardine used to collect the mail with a horse and trap every evening and take it to Bucknell to meet the mail train.
