Brampton Bryan
School and Select Picnics

On Tuesday the children of the day school and others, to the number of over one hundred, had a day's 'outing'......... The movement, it appears, originated with the children themselves, two pence each being fixed as the price, together with some small subscriptions. The programme was tea and play, with scrambling for sweets. The children appeared to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves till late in the evening. The chief managers were Mrs and Mrs. Edwards and Miss Jaffers, who carried out the affair very satisfactorily. At the same time in another [place]...... was a select party, who had come in carriages, to enjoy themselves under the spreading oaks.
