Report by HM Inspector on Brampton Bryan School. Inspected on 26th June 1961. There are 32 children in this school, organized in two classes. Few of them elect to transfer at 13+ to Leintwardine, but all over 11 years of age will in about two years' time go to the new secondary school now being built at Wigmore. The school which was granted Aided Status in 1952, is scheduled for closure, but the proposal may be varied if the plan to amalgamate it with Lingen is approved. Some of the children go on from here to full time courses at Hereford Technical College, a welcome trend while the school is unreorganized.

The school celebrated its centenary last year. Accommodation consists of two classrooms, one of them rather small. The statew of interior decoration is good; external painting is badly needed. The recent modernization of the sanitary provision has been a great improvement. There is a well fenced playground of fair size but its surface does not drain well in wet weather. If this school is extended to receive the children from Lingen, improvements to the washing arrangements, which are poor, will be made. Most of the furniture is new and there is a good supply of books including a large collection from the County Library.
